Tahoe Fund Talks: California & Nevada’s Commitment to Tahoe

Who: Brad Crowell, Director Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources & Wade Crowfoot, Secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency
When: Tuesday, February 2nd at 3:30 pm
Where: Gotowebinar Live

On February 2nd, the Tahoe Fund held a very special conversation with Director Brad Crowell and Secretary Wade Crowfoot in which they discussed the unique bi-state partnership and their commitments to continue to work together on Tahoe’s most pressing challenges.

Director Brad Crowell was appointed as the Director of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources by Governor Brian Sandoval in December 2016. As Director, he is responsible for overseeing the protection of Nevada’s natural and historic resources. In partnership with the Governor’s Energy Office, Director Crowell was responsible for the development of Nevada’s State Climate Strategy. A native of Carson City, Nevada, Crowell has nearly 20 years of experience in energy and environmental policy at the state and federal level.

Secretary Wade Crowfoot was appointed California’s Natural Resources Secretary by Governor Gavin Newsom in January 2019. He oversees an agency of 19,000 employees who protect and manage California’s natural resources. This includes the state’s forests and natural lands, rivers and waterways, coast and ocean, fish and wildlife, and energy development. As a member of the Governor’s cabinet, he advises on natural resources and environmental issues.

Tahoe Fund Talks: The CARES Act Impact on 2020 Giving

While COVID prevents us from hosting our traditional in-person get togethers, we are launching a new virtual series we call Tahoe Fund Talks. From time to time, we will host an expert to share their insights into things related to the work we do.

We are thrilled to announce our first talk will be with Gigi Orta, Trust & Estate Specialist, Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. She has an extensive background on trusts, estate and taxes.

She has offered to spend some time with us on Thursday, December 10th at 3:30pm to review the big changes the CARES Act creates for charitable donations made before Dec 31, 2020 and how that may impact your annual and long-term giving.

If you can join us, please register at this link.

This invitation is open to our Stewardship Circle donors only.

To learn how you can join our Stewardship Circle please email Karolina Hedman at khedman@tahoefund.org.

2020 Platinum First Tracks at NorthStar

Friday, February 28th was a special day for the Tahoe Fund as we hit the slopes in the early morning for Platinum First Tracks at Northstar.

The snow was fresh and spirits were high as a special group of donors and Tahoe Fund board members enjoyed deep corduroy courtesy of Northstar. We were also joined by members of the Northstar executive team, including Vice President and General Manager, Deirdra Walsh.

We gathered to thank our donors and celebrate Vail Resort’s $1 donation program that allows guests of Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood to contribute $1 to the Tahoe Fund on lift tickets, hospitality, and rounds of gold. Those dollars have really added up and have helped us complete environmental projects all around Tahoe.

After some great skiing, our friends from Paradigm8 provided the group with a special experience in Tahoe Mountain Club’s Schaffer’s Camp featuring a five star meal, a beautiful view and a Bloody Mary bar sponsored by J.P. Morgan.

Special thanks to Northstar, J.P. Morgan, Paradigm8 and all of our donors and board members for a great day celebrating the work of the Tahoe Fund.
