$1 for Tahoe

Donate Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe and contribute to hiking and biking trails, watershed restoration projects, wildlife protection, and environmental stewardship programs.

What is Green Bucks/ $1 for Tahoe?

Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe is a program of the Tahoe Fund and the Truckee River Watershed Council to harness the passion of visitors and residents to help care for our extraordinary environment.

How does it work?

Local businesses collect one dollar from their guests from purchases of lift tickets, hotel accommodations, and other items at participating resorts and businesses in the Tahoe and Truckee region.  As an “opt-out” program, guests may choose not to participate and the contribution will be removed from their bill.

Where will the money go?

Proceeds from the Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe program support the efforts of the Tahoe Fund or the Truckee River Watershed Council in their missions to improve conservation, recreation, and stewardship education throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Truckee River Watershed.

Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe will help fund:

  • Miles of hiking, biking and ADA-accessible trails
  • Access for swimming, kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding
  • Open spaces for wildlife habitat and scenic views
  • Restoration of rivers, lakes, meadows, wetlands, forests
  • Protection of fish and wildlife habitat
  • Boating and fishing access
  • Landscaping and trail re-alignment to prevent runoff
  • Signage and interpretive displays to guide visitors

With your help a little gift goes a long way!

Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe is a win-win for residents and visitors. The program creates a simple way for those who love this area to help make it even better! With your support, we can raise money to restore and improve the environment and enhance recreational opportunities.

TripAdvisor Lends Support to Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe Businesses!

Leading travel web-company TripAdvisor recently launched a new initiative called the GreenLeaders program specifically designed to identify lodges committed to environmental conservation. TripAdvisor GreenLeader businesses receive a variety of benefits such as improved search rankings. Now Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe Business Partners can earn points toward the GreenLeader designation.

If you are a business interested in participating in the Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe program OR a Green Bucks/$1 for Tahoe contributor wanting to learn more about recipient organizations, please contact Amy Berry at 775-298-0035 or info@tahoefund.org.

You love it here… now you can do something simple to help take care of this extraordinary place.
