Tahoe Fund Enjoys Platinum First Tracks at Northstar

March 11, 2020 by Guest

Photos provided by the Northstar EpicMix team

Friday, February 28th was a special day for the Tahoe Fund as we hit the slopes in the early morning for Platinum First Tracks at Northstar.

The snow was fresh and spirits were high as a special group of donors and Tahoe Fund board members enjoyed deep corduroy courtesy of Northstar. We were also joined by members of the Northstar executive team, including Vice President and General Manager, Deirdra Walsh.

We gathered to thank our donors and celebrate Vail Resort’s $1 donation program that allows guests of Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood to contribute $1 to the Tahoe Fund on lift tickets, hospitality, and rounds of gold. Those dollars have really added up and have helped us complete environmental projects all around Tahoe.

After some great skiing, our friends from Paradigm8 provided the group with a special experience in Tahoe Mountain Club’s Schaffer’s Camp featuring a five star meal, a beautiful view and a Bloody Mary bar sponsored by J.P. Morgan.

Special thanks to Northstar, J.P. Morgan, Paradigm8 and all of our donors and board members for a great day celebrating the work of the Tahoe Fund.

TAHOE FUND PARTNERS WITH BOATWORKS AT LAKE TAHOE TO DRAW ATTENTION TO SLED LITTER IN TAHOE

December 9, 2019 by Guest

Local artist, Mark Salinas, and his artwork, Sledflakes, on display during free event

Tahoe City, CA–December 10, 2019 – Boatworks at Lake Tahoe has commissioned artwork called Sledflakes in collaboration with local artist Mark Salinas and the Tahoe Fund. Made from discarded sled pieces found on sled hills in Tahoe, Sledflakes supports the regional Take Care Tahoe initiative to reduce the number of sleds left on hills, by bringing awareness to the issue and the harmful effects of plastic on the Lake.

The event is December 13, 2019 starting at 5:00 p.m. inside the Boatworks at Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City. Attendees can view sustainable art, drink complimentary beer and wine, and support Tahoe City’s youth. Boatworks at Lake Tahoe is asking attendees to bring a new, unopened toy, that will be donated to local youth.

“For the past few years we have been working with our Take Care Tahoe partners to try to reduce the amount of sleds and litter left behind at sled hills in Tahoe,” said Tahoe Fund CEO Amy Berry. “This is such a fun way to draw attention to the problem. We are so thankful to Boatworks at Lake Tahoe for creating this opportunity and to Mark for using his artistic talents to help spread the word.”

2019 Lake Tahoe Summit

July 17, 2019 by Amy Berry

Join us for the 23rd annual Lake Tahoe Summit.  This year we will gather on Tuesday, August 20th at Valhalla in South Lake Tahoe.

Registration will begin at 9:00 am and the main program at 10:00 am.

Since the first Lake Tahoe Summit in 1997, we have learned a great deal about the threats to the lake and made great strides in protecting and restoring this natural treasure. This year’s summit will be an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve learned, the progress we’ve made, and the challenges that lie ahead.

Due to limited on-site parking, we encourage you to ride a bike, use public transportation or our complimentary shuttle service to get to and from the summit. Shuttle will depart every 20 minutes from Taylor Creek Sno-Park and South Tahoe High School beginning at 8:30am. Shuttles will return to the parking lots when the Summit concludes around 12:15pm. There will also be a bicycle valet service courtesy of the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition.

We hope you will have the opportunity to attend the 2019 Lake Tahoe Summit.
