Lake Tahoe Fun Fact: 13 Ounces

April 2, 2020 by Skyler Monaghan

Today’s Fun Fact is a shout out to one of the many businesses who support our $1 for Tahoe program. Alpen Sierra Coffee is a local coffee roaster that supplies delicious coffee to most of Tahoe’s favorite coffee shops. Now you can sign up for their “Coffee of the Month” for just $13 for the month of April. It has never been more important to support local businesses, especially ones that have supported our mission to improve the Tahoe environment for all to enjoy. Cheers!

Lake Tahoe Fun Fact: Stay Safe at Home

March 26, 2020 by Skyler Monaghan

Today’s Tahoe Fun Fact is a reminder to please stay home right now. Social distancing plays a key role in stopping the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The more we stay at home and away from others, the more likely we are to not receive or pass the virus. Mountain communities like ours have limited medical capacity, so it’s critical we do our part to slow transmission/flatten the curve. Thankfully, the mountains and Lake will still be here when this passes. And with your continued support, Tahoe Fund will continue to work to ensure their long term preservation.

Lake Tahoe Fun Fact: 14

March 5, 2020 by Guest

There are currently 14 prescribed fires burning in the Tahoe Basin. The Tahoe Forest Fuels Team has been working hard to clear the slash piles that are currently overwhelming the basin. Prescribed fires are set by forest managers during less flammable conditions and kept within control lines to create fires of low intensity in areas that would be high intensity zones during wildfires. Tahoe Living with Fire houses and updates a map with locations of planned prescribed fires around the lake so that everyone can stay informed.
