Lake Tahoe Community College Forestry Scholarships

Partners: Lake Tahoe Community College
Funds Granted: $165,650

The key to restoring our forests and preventing catastrophic wildfire is a robust and talented workforce.

Lake Tahoe Community College’s new Forestry Education & Job Placement Program to prepare students for careers in this currently understaffed field. The program teaches students how to assist with forest management, planning, and implementation work. Participants can earn an Associate of Science degree along with several other certificates and industry-recognized credentials. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared for employment with local, state, and federal natural resource agencies.

The Tahoe Fund provided a scholarship to every student enrolled in its inaugural year, and a grant to support the program administrator. This year, we raised $50,000 to provide scholarships for more than 50 students in the program.

Thanks to your support, even more young people will be able to get started in this important career.
