Incline Fire Smart Community Pilot

A new pilot project in Incline Village is kicking off efforts to make a local neighborhood the most fire-ready community in Tahoe. The Incline Fire Smart Community pilot will feature a series of connected wildfire mitigation efforts across public lands, utility corridors and a neighborhood of 228 homes.
Spearheaded by a collective of organizations and tech companies working on wildfire resilience, this pilot is leveraging new technology and data-driven strategies to identify which mitigations matter the most, while demonstrating how comprehensive wildfire defense can be implemented and replicated across Tahoe and the West. Data from the pilot will be used to help inform insurance models as well.
A press event on Tuesday, May 20 featured a panel discussion on the pilot, the science and strategy behind it, plus a live demonstration. Watch the panel discussion below.
