Tahoe Forest Products Sawmill

Project Partners: Tahoe Forest Products LLC, Washoe Development Corporation

A new sawmill – the first of its size to be built in the area in nearly a century – is coming to Carson City.

Tahoe Forest Products LLC and Washoe Development Corporation, an affiliate of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California, are building the new mill on 40 acres of Washoe-owned land. The sawmill will have a major impact on wildfire management in the region by reducing fire fuels and creating a local market for green and burned logs.

The Tahoe Fund has been working with the project leaders to help bring this much-needed resource to life. Learn more about the significance of the new sawmill and the role it will play in fire prevention for the Tahoe basin in this Bloomberg article.
