Tahoe Backcountry Alliance $10K Challenge
Project Partner: Tahoe Backcountry Alliance
Fundraising Goal: Unlock a $10K donation
Tahoe has some of the best winter recreation in the world, but the backcountry can be hard to access with the challenges of snow removal, parking availability, and limited trailheads.
The Tahoe Backcountry Alliance (TBA) is tackling all of these issues and more as they work to improve backcountry access for all. As part of their mission, they also offer cross country ski and snowshoe experiences as part of the Washoe Tribe’s Youth Expedition Program, and give people the opportunity to check out sno-park passes and gear for free at libraries throughout El Dorado, Placer and Nevada Counties.
This December, the Tahoe Fund offered a matching challenge to support TBA, calling on 100 people to donate $35 or more before the end of the month to help unlock a $10,000 gift to TBA in honor of their 10th anniversary. We were blown away by community support and raised over $26,000 to help TBA improve backcountry access for all!
