Through a public-private partnership, the Tahoe Fund works with the California Tahoe Conservancy and Nevada State Lands to promote the sale of their Tahoe license plates. CA and NV Tahoe license plate fees go directly to environmental improvement projects of the California Tahoe Conservancy and the Nevada Department of State Lands, which include trails, parks, water quality and restoration efforts at Lake Tahoe.

How Much Does a Tahoe License Plate Cost?

• In Nevada, the first year starts at $62, with renewal costs to be $30.
• California plates start at $50 with a renewal cost of $40.

How to Utilize the Plates for Powder Program?

• Step One: Visit https://www.tahoefund.org/tahoeplates/license-plate-for-powder/
  • Fill out your information.
  • Chose a resort you would like a ticket from.
• Step Two: Purchase a Tahoe Plate
  • Order either California or Nevada.
  • California DMV does not send email receipts. For an online transaction, please take a screenshot of your confirmation page to provide as proof of purchase.

60 years ago this week Squaw Valley hosted the Olympics, welcoming athletes from 30 nations. The 1960 Olympics was the first games to host women’s speed skating and the biathlon. It was also the first time in Olympic history that results and scores were electronically calculated. In honor of the anniversary, Project SNOW will be hosting an event on March 14th, at the Olympic Valley Lodge to hear from past Olympians.

Black bears need to eat 20,000 calories a day to fatten up for hibernation. That’s equivalent to 672 acorns, 78 pounds of blueberries and almost 25,000 tent caterpillars. With temperatures warming, a number of bears will be coming out of hibernation for a mid-winter snack. Please ensure that bear boxes are closed tight and bear etiquette is being practiced.

What is the Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series?

The Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series is an eagerly anticipated winter tradition for North Tahoe’s adventure community. With over 4,000 attendees annually, the 14-year-old Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series (WSS) has become the premier North American forum for adventure storytelling. Five times per winter, a premier outdoor athlete presents an inspirational tale of adventure, creating a forum for motivation and inspiration. The cost of admission is always free!

Where Does the Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series Take Place?

All shows take place at the Olympic Village Lodge at Squaw Valley at 6:00pm on the night specified.

Who is Hadley Hammer?

Professional skier, Hadley Hammer, details her unlikely entry into the pro-skier world at the age of 25, when she was catapulted to the top of the Freeride World Tour. However, rather than being an overnight success story, Hammer’s talk will look at how the limitations we place on ourselves can hold us back the most, and how overcoming those obstacles can lead to amazing results. Hadley grew up in the Tetons, skiing was never her sole focus. The multi-faceted Jackson Hole native spent her childhood figure skating, rock climbing, ski racing and Nordic skiing, but those extracurricular activities were always anchored with plenty of days freeskiing in Jackson Hole with her two brothers. Why Support Alpenglow?

Alpenglow graciously donates the proceeds of the raffle, bar, and pizza to a specified non-profit. This gives a great boost to local nonprofits and shows the continued support of the organization. To date, the Winter Speaker Series has helped raised over $300,000. On February 20^th, Alpenglow has made Tahoe Fund the beneficiary of the night, an honor we are proud to accept.

How Can I Get Involved?

The Tahoe Fund is seeking volunteers that can help with the raffle, bar, or pizza. The raffle will take place before the show, the beer and pizza will be served until they run out, or the show stops. So far, 33 miles of the Tahoe Trail have been completed, with 38 more miles planned for future completion. The Tahoe Trail is a multi-use path that will one day go around the entire Lake. Planning is now underway for 8 more miles from Sand Harbor to Spooner Summit.
