Thank you for your interest in supporting the Tahoe Fund. The Tahoe Fund offers several giving opportunities for donors interested in making contributions. There are as many ways to make a donation as there are projects to support. The Tahoe Fund warmly welcomes and accepts gifts of any size.
Please consider making a gift to the Tahoe Fund to support our projects, annual giving program, Tahoe license plate campaign and/or attend an event.
Additional Ways to Give
Gifts by Check
Gifts to the Tahoe Fund may be made by sending a check payable to the “Tahoe Fund” and mailed to PO Box 750, Tahoe City, CA, 96145. The Tahoe Fund is a registered non-profit, #EIN 01-0974628, and all gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Gifts to the Tahoe Fund may also be directed to the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (www.ttcf.net) or the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation (www.parasol.org) for the benefit of the Tahoe Fund.
Pledges allows donors the option to break gifts into installments or to make yearly contributions for a set period of time. Pledge payments qualify for the maximum charitable benefit under state and federal law.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
If you have securities that are worth more than you paid for them and that are yielding little income, you may wish to consider, instead of a cash gift, donating these securities to the Tahoe Fund via TTCF or Parasol. Please contact the either Community Foundation for more information on gifts of securities.
IRAs and 401Ks
Donors may wish to designate a percentage of their retirement account to a charitable beneficiary on the beneficiary designation form in order to avoid the estate and income taxes that may become due if funds are ultimately received by non-charitable heirs.
Life Estate Agreements
Life estate agreements for farms and personal residences, including vacation homes, offer another possible gift option. This arrangement can provide donors with substantial and immediate income tax savings.
Securities may also be good candidates to fund gift annuities that can result in immediate tax savings and increased income. You can make a gift of cash or property, get immediate tax benefits, and ensure that you or a loved one receive fixed quarterly or annual income payments for life.
Charitable Lead Trust
Make a donation now while reducing the tax burden for your heirs in the future. You can place cash or property in a trust that pays a fixed amount to the Tahoe Fund for the number of years you select. Once this period ends, the assets held by the trust are transferred to the beneficiaries you name. In some cases, you receive a substantial reduction in federal gift and estate taxes.
Charitable Remainder Trust
You can place cash or property in a trust that pays annual income or fixed annuity payment to you (or another named beneficiary) for life or for a term of years. After your death, the remainder of the trust transfers to the Tahoe Fund, and is placed in the charitable fund you have selected. You receive income tax benefits the year you establish your trust.
Help protect Lake Tahoe for the enjoyment of future generations by using one of the most popular and simplest ways to make a gift. You can designate a gift or portion of your estate to the Tahoe Fund.
