Inclusivity and Accessibility on the Tahoe Trail System
Project Partners: Tahoe Rim Trail Association
Funds Granted: $63,000
Over 500,000 people visit and explore the Tahoe Rim Trail annually. With high visitation, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is creating inclusive resources and experiences that appropriately reflect the diversity of communities throughout the Tahoe Region, including:
Spanish-language resources at trailheads and online; interpretative hikes for local and regional groups, including Spanish-speaking families and those with disabilities; free stewardship-learning experiences for young people, including trail work service days and leave no trace education workshops; and youth backpacking trips for over 200 underserved young people.
With support from the Tahoe Fund, TRTA is working to make the entire trail system more accessible, especially for underserved communities.
